Pennycuick Collins Building Surveyors help Primitivo reopen its doors
May 9th 2017
With the reopening of Primitivo eagerly anticipated today, Pennycuick Collins’ building surveyors have been busy over several months following our appointment to oversee a major refurbishment of one of Birmingham’s best-loved bars. Primitivo was forced to close as part of The Grand Hotel’s redevelopment work, the 20 month closure giving owner Prit Sagoo the opportunity to completely refurbish the much loved space. Pennycuick Collins project managed the entire works from producing floor plans and elevation drawings internally, through to gaining landlord’s consent for the works and building regulation approvals. The complete fit-out of the 1400sq ft city centre bar has seen the design and installation of a new kitchen and new heating and ventilation systems, as well as an update to the entire interior including redecoration of the entire space.
Speaking about Pennycuick Collins’ role in the refurbishment, Adrian Roddick, head of building consultancy said: “We, like so many other firms in Birmingham, are excited that Primitivo is reopening and are very proud to have played such a key part in the refurbishment. Primitivo is a landmark in the business community and we look forward to enjoying the finished result.”
Prit Sagoo, owner of Primitivo added: “I want to extend my thanks to Pennycuick Collins for their professionalism and attention to detail in their capacity as project managers of the relaunch. I am delighted with the finished result which has significantly improved the facilities and infrastructure of the bar, whilst retaining the original look and feel which are the hallmark of Primitivo. This has been a complex and time pressured job, but Pennycuick Collins has kept works on track and within budget.”
Pennycuick Collins’ partner Adrian Roddick and building surveyor Guy Travis project managed the refit of Primitivo.
