Pennycuick Profiles: Sarah Moors
September 19th 2016
We understand how important it is to develop the future faces of the property industry and at Pennycuick Collins, we are supporting several members of our team with their formal qualifications and training.
We are delighted to have welcomed Sarah Moors into our Commercial team, who is currently a masters student studying a conversion course in Real Estate alongside working at Pennycuick Collins.
We asked Sarah about her experiences with studying and working at Pennycuick Collins.
‘For my undergraduate degree I studied History and Film and Television Studies, which is quite different to the Real Estate course. Throughout the Real Estate course we have completed a variety of modules including Property Law, Economics and Management and Agency. I also went on field trips abroad, which was valuable in realizing the international scale of the property market, as well as allowing us to meet a number of industry professionals.
During my time at Pennycuick Collins so far, I have gained a variety of beneficial practical experiences – out on site accompanying our Commercial Surveyors to carry out site inspections and valuations, along with checking that the property is still being occupied and in a good state of repair, and also meeting with contractors. I have spent time working in the office gaining knowledge of comparable analysis, chasing arrears and arranging contractors.
I really enjoy that in surveying, two days are never the same, which means it is a continual learning curve. Having worked in a number of different pubs and restaurants previously, I have always wanted to have a career in a sociable profession. The nature of the surveying profession means that you get to meet a wide range of people, and visit a large number of interesting places.
My future aspirations are working towards my APC in order to become a Chartered Surveyor and then progressing up the career ladder. I love the idea of going overseas too and I hope to live and work in America for a period of time in the future.
Working alongside studying has let me start putting what I have learnt into practice and I look forward to developing my career even further with Pennycuick Collins’ support.’
