Pennycuick Collins Big Virtual Walk

Pennycuick Collins confirm the BIG VIRTUAL WALK, their first major fundraising event for chosen charity of the year; Edward’s Trust

In the month of September, the team at Pennycuick Collins will be arranging a virtual walk to cover the total distance of the UK. From John O’Groats in the north of Scotland down to Land’s End at the southernmost tip of Cornwall.

The total distance from these two locations is 813 miles so each volunteer will walk a proportion of the distance around a local park or town and track their distance on a GPS app. We will then tally the total each day and add it to the total distance covered. We will be looking to update this on a daily basis, so be sure to follow our social media channels to see the updates.

Talking about the event, head of the charity committee Lucy Roberts said:

“Edward’s Trust have been our chosen charity since January and due to social distancing rules for the majority of the year so far, it has been difficult to arrange fundraising events. We are just thankful to finally be able to donate towards to this wonderful cause.”

Lucy Goodway, the engagement manager at Edward’s Trust added:

“We were delighted when the team at Pennycuick Collins decided to join us as a corporate charity partner earlier on this year.  It’s been a tough few months with lots of our live events being cancelled or postponed, so when the staff at Pennycuick came up with the idea of a big Virtual Walk, we were thrilled!  What a wonderful idea!  During lockdown we have been still able to provide over 450 adult appointments, 640 children’s and young people appointments and 84 wellbeing sessions to our bereaved families across the West Midlands.  It is due to the generosity of our corporate supporters like Pennycuick that we are still able to offer our holistic service.  We thank Pennycuick for #FlyingTheKite with us this year and wish you all the very best with the virtual walk from John O’Groats to Land’s End!”

Our JustGiving page is now live and we are hoping to raise £500 for Edward’s Trust. We would appreciate any donation, so if you have a few pounds to spare, please click the below link.
