The History of Pennycuick Collins
June 28th 2021
On 1st July 2021, Pennycuick Collins will be celebrating our 20th Anniversary and we have plenty planned to celebrate. Today, we will be starting to celebrations by looking at the history of Pennycuick Collins.
The practice was originally founded by Malcolm Pennycuick who set up on his own at an office on Washwood Heath Road in Saltley as a residential management firm after leaving Shipway, Doble and Earle.
Pennycuick Collins was created on the 1st July 2001 by combining the former practices of Pennycuick Brown Perry & Deakin and Collins Son & Harvey, both long established and respected Chartered Surveying Practices with a reputation for professional and personal service.
Due to the above acquisitions, the company had possibly the longest name in the industry, coming in with over 50 letters, the company was known as Pennycuick Collins Perry & Deakin incorporating Cartwight Newman & Nock. However, we eventually shortened the name to Pennycuick Collins.
Pennycuick Collins is now a multi-faceted practice combining the best aspects from all firms. We act as Managing Agent on behalf of the Freeholder and are involved in the provision of services such as gardening, cleaning, lighting of common parts and repairs of the main building. This unique approach resulted in rapid growth as more client approached us for business.
Following this growth, the company moved from Washwood Heath to 9 The Square, Broad Street, Birmingham, right next door to Heart FM. Being next door to such a high profile radio station meant we ended up with a few accidental visits from celebrities such as Ozzy Osbourne and The Wanted.
The company occupied multiple floors at The Square and with further growth and big plans for the future meant we would soon need to relocate. In 2015, we relocated to our current office at 54 Hagley road where our success has continued.
Our most recent merger was with Cosnett Price which completed in August 2020. This merger resulted in a huge commercial portfolio coming into management which strengthened our commercial practice.
The past year has been extremely difficult for all businesses, however our experienced board of directors have been able to steer the company through the toughest economy in recent history and lead us to further achievements. We have implemented a working from home scheme so that our team members can work in a safe environment whilst continuing to provide the amazing service we have built the company on.
Pennycuick Collins continues to grow and adapt in an ever changing industry. We have more growth planned and will hope to share more good news with our clients and customers shortly.
